Some more Smaug

Only one more week to go! In the new vlog they had shown a bit more of the dragon.
Here's a foot, looks a lot like the forelegs from AUJ. Foreleg or hind leg is the question?
One of his mighty wings!
Soon we will we his design when the movie is released.

Everything we know about Smaug's design

With the Desolation of Smaug coming out soon, I figured it would be nice to gather images from the trailers and the first movie. Keep in mind though, his design has changed some features in between the movies.

  • Head
We don't see much of his head in the first movie, but we do get glimpses of it...
On theonering.net, they pointed out you can see a "crown" of horns on his head.
Then in the first trailer for The Desolation of Smaug you get to see part of his head in detail.
You can see that he has a crocodilian snout and lips.
Then in the next trailer we see more horns on his head.
  • Body
Not much is seen of Smaug's  body, but we can see some of it in the picture above, and in the first movie. We get a good idea but not a clear picture.
He seems to bear a resemblance to Vermithrax Pejorative.
  • Limbs
We know he has wings and hind limbs, but are his hands on his wings or does he have arms?
In the first film we saw his hand grip the door, and he proceeded to trample the dwarves. In the extended edition of An Unexpected Journey, the CGI has been changed on the scene where he tramples them. The claws have been made longer and a possible membrane is seen on his limbs.
But the hand gripping the door remain in this edition. So the big question is, does he have 4 or 6 limbs? Maybe his arms are just really small, and perhaps walks on his wings if you go by the extended edition.
A design the filmmakers wore on their sweatshirts.
As seen in this early design/concept art he has 6 limbs.

  • Tail
Our last detail is the tail, there is a screenshot in the first movie.

We won't know anything for sure until the movie comes out.

Gino 1998 and Zilla 2004

As you can see, FW Zilla has small needle-like teeth.

This discussion will be going into detail on both of these specimens. It also will ask you which aspects of these creatures would go into the Pipeworks Godzilla 4 game.

Differences
Gino has larger teeth than Zilla.
  1. Gino has a small amount of teeth but they are a decent size. Zilla has many small needle-like teeth.
  2. Gino has four main fingers and one small "dewclaw" where his pinky would be, while Zilla has just four fingers similar to ToonZilla.
  3. They have slightly different stances. Gino is completely horizontal while Zilla stands partially upright.
  4. The slightest difference is the dewlap on their necks because they are nearly identical except Gino has a slightly larger one.
  5. The last one is size.
Gino - 60 meters
Zilla - 90 meters

 So now onto the questions.
  1. Which teeth would you want the character to have?
  2. Which stance?
  3. Which size?(60, 90, or somewhere in between)
  4. How many fingers?
  5. What amount of fingers would you want?
  6. Would you want him to breathe fire or have hurricane breath?

This is a side view of Zilla, which is most likely how his stance is.
This is the computer model of Gino, which you can see is completely horizontal.
Alright so now leave your opinions in the comments below.
